Deliverable 2- Secure Points of Ingress/Egress

This map shows security points of ingress/egress to the Alta Base Medical Center. This was achieved by using the intersect tool to locate points where local roads intersected with the applied 500 ft. buffer around the hospital. There were no problems with this assignment to speak of.

Deliverable 1- Hospital and Stadium Buffer

This map shows a 3 mile buffer surrounding Memorial Stadium and a 500 ft. buffer around each of the nine hospitals within the 3 mile buffer of the Stadium. The only tricky part to this assignment was reading into the assignment that the nine hospitals needed to be exported as a shapefile to be able to individually buffer each of the hospitals.

DHS Bay Urban Areas

This map focuses on the Bay Area in California and shows the Department of Homeland Security's Designated Urban Areas with a 10 mile buffer applied to these areas. Luckily, I did not encounter any problems with this project-I love buffering!

BAUA Landmarks

This exercise required the use of many group layers, even though only 1 (BAUA Landmarks) is shown in this data view exported image. I really appreciated our teacher's advice to turn off the hydrography and transportation layers. I forgot this at first, then reflected back to our tips (after waiting for 15 minutes for the transportation layer to draw and getting frusterated!) and things moved must faster.

Density Map of Crimes

This map shows density levels of the named crimes. The only pitfall I encountered was using the kernel density tool. I tried it 5 times for the first map and nothing worked. I restarted the project and voila!

Recommendations of Locations for a New Substation

This was my favorite map to create. I love creating buffers and analyzing locations for anything new. The only pitfall I encountered was trying to get everything to fit!

Base Map of Montrose County, Colorado

As frustrating as the GIS war can be, unfortunately I lost the battle. This was the only deliverable I could accomplish due to issues with GCS and Euclidean distance : (
